No. 1 bank for farmers

Nine out of ten farmers bank with Crédit Agricole, making it the No. 1 partner of the French farming industry. Outside France, our subsidiaries are fully involved in the local economy.

No. 1 financer of French farming

Crédit Agricole finances more than 70% of the French farming market and over 40% of the food production industry. Nine out of ten farmers in France bank with us. With our low-interest loans, we remain the partner of choice for farmers, financing 80% of bank networks' total outstanding loans. We therefore play a major economic role in the farming industry, helping farmers throughout their active life, during the good times and the bad.

In 2009, Crédit Agricole released €400 million to help farmers to rebuild their cash flow in a difficult economic climate.

BNI Madagascar supporting the growth of the silk industry

Subsidiary BNI Madagascar is a key player in the Madagascan economy. The bank has signed a three-year development plan to support the silk industry with various public bodies such as the government, the regional authority and certain rural communities. BNI Madagascar has therefore made a commitment to finance a number of projects, such as the construction of a silk-worm breeding farm, purchasing weaving equipment and renovating old buildings. The aim of this plan is to boost economic activity in the region concerned in order to enable the local population make itself economically independent.
