Chief Executive Officer , Born in 1949

Jean-Paul Chifflet was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole S.A. on 1 March 2010.

He joined Crédit Agricole du Sud-Est Regional Bank in 1973 as head of sales coordination. In 1980 he was appointed corporate secretary of Crédit Agricole de la Drôme Regional Bank and in 1986 corporate secretary of Crédit Agricole du Sud-Est Regional Bank. In 1990 he became head of development and credit at Crédit Agricole du Sud-Est Regional Bank. He moved to Crédit Agricole de l'Ain–Saône-et-Loire Regional Bank in 1992 as CEO and took up the same post at Crédit Agricole du Centre-Est Regional Bank in 1995. In 1997 he was appointed head of relations with the Regional Banks at Caisse Nationale de Crédit Agricole and in 2000 became CEO of Crédit Agricole du Centre-Est Regional Bank. From 2006 to January 2010 Jean-Paul Chifflet served as corporate secretary of the Fédération Nationale du Crédit Agricole (FNCA), vice-chairman of SAS Rue La Boétie and a director of Calyon, LCL and Siparex Associés, a private equity house. He has sat on the Paris-based Conseil Économique et Social since 2007 and is a member of the confederate council and executive board of Confédération Nationale de la Mutualité, de la Coopération et du Crédit Agricole (CNMCCA).

Born in 1949 at Tournon-sur-Rhône, Jean-Paul Chifflet is a graduate of Institut des Hautes Finances (IHFI) in Paris and holds two decorations: Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite and Officier du Mérite Agricole.
