The Crédit Agricole Languedoc and Crédit Agricole Sud Méditerranée Regional Banks have together won a call for tenders put out by the Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Authority to deploy a regional fund set up to finance solar power projects.
The 400 million-euro fund has been financed 50/50 by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and a pool of banks led by Crédit Agricole Languedoc.
The two Regional Banks were chosen on the strength of their experience in the renewable energy sector. "We have already built up considerable solar power investment expertise, notably in the Midi-Pyrénées region," noted Daniel Gonzalez, in charge of the Crédit Agricole Sud Méditerranée marketing department.
At Crédit Agricole Languedoc, Jacques Biau, the Regional Bank’s head of Corporate Banking and Agriculture, said: "Among our customers, we have many national and regional solar energy market players.”
