Crédit Agricole Immobilier developing eco-neighbourhood with 2,500 housing units
The municipal authorities in Melun, to the south east of Paris, have chosen Crédit Agricole Immobilier to develop its new Plaine de Montaigu eco-neighbourhood in conjunction with property developer Loticis. The Crédit Agricole Brie Picardie Regional Bank and Crédit Agricole CIB are funding the project.
Located in the northern part of the municipality, the Plaine de Montaigu eco-neighbourhood is part of the town’s urban development master plan and is designed to contribute to renewal in a Zone Urbaine Sensible, or sensitive urban sector. The main challenge is to provide a new balance for the town by creating genuine social diversity, reasoned resource management, and an urban fabric that links the new neighbourhood to the existing town.
The future eco-neighbourhood, designed as part of an ambitious sustainable development project, involves 2,500 housing units (some of which are to be social housing), local shops and public amenities such as crèches and school and sports facilities on a surface area of approximately 65 hectares, together with a hotel and offices.
Construction work in the first 400 housing units is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2012.
