Our partnerships for the environment
For a number of years now, Crédit Agricole has been actively involved with associations that promote all forms of environmental protection.
Supporting the development of organic farming
Initiated in 2007, our partnership with BIO , the French agency for developing and promoting organic farming, has given rise to a national competition, the Bio Excellence Awards .
In 2009, the competition rewarded innovations by firms and other players in the organic food industry, whether producers, processors or distributors. The awards aim to enhance the image of organic farming as an innovative and dynamic business while encouraging the pooling of know-how .
Promoting integrated farming
In partnership with FARRE, the Forum for Environment-friendly Integrated Farming , we have carried out a series of communication campaigns to raise farmers' awareness of innovative, environment-friendly techniques and tell city-dwellers about the improvements made by the farming industry.
Acting for biodiversity
Crédit Agricole has teamed up with the French League for the Protection of Birds (LPO) for a three-year period starting in 2006.
Our aim is to review the state of biodiversity on 160 farms and offer suggestions for possible improvements.
In 2009, we helped with the production of a technical handbook for farmers wishing to protect biodiversity on their farms. Over 130 farmers from networks involved in integrated, organic and sustainable farming took part in the project.
Since 2009, Crédit Agricole has also supported a three-year research programme with the French Natural History Museum to count common birds in France . It is the most important bird count in France for 20 years.
