Financing responsible projects
Crédit Agricole’s subsidiary dedicated to Project finance, Crédit Agricole Corporate Investment Banking (CIB) is the first French bank to have adhered to the Equator principles, from their launch, in 2003. Consequence of its commitment: Crédit Agricole CIB implies systematically its teams, to take into account the social and environmental impacts of the projects which it supports.
Crédit Agricole CIB among the founding banks of equator principles
Our Crédit Agricole CIB subsidiary is one of the founding banks of the Equator Principles.
With this voluntary and unilateral implication, we analyze the environmental and social aspects of every new project, and condition our financing by associating it, if need be, obligations for the borrowers.

Projects strictly selected
Crédit Agricole CIB applies the Equator principles to all financing activities. We study the social and environmental impacts of any project (including the projects with a threshold of $10M not reached) superior to $10M before agreeing to finance it.
To guide our choice, we use the classification of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which allows to segment the projects in 3 levels:
- A corresponds to a project presenting potentially significant adverse social or environmental impacts that are non-uniform, irreversible or unprecedented;
- B corresponds to a project presenting limited adverse social or environmental impacts, generally at a single site, that are largely reversible and easily dealt with by mitigation measures;
- C corresponds to projects presenting minimal or no adverse social or environmental impacts.
