On the basis of its strong foundations in and its knowledge of the farming world, the Group supports the farming and food manufacturing industries during the good times and the bad, with the aim of developing "agriculture raisonnée", a form of environmentally-friendly and socially beneficial farming, and promoting biodiversity. It encourages innovation among farmers, combining agriculture with environmental issues.

The Group maintains its responsibility towards its historic customer base during the good times and the bad, helping them to manage their holdings with a long-term view and supporting them during sector crises.

In addition, a number of Group entities finance industrial projects relating to new energies. Beyond providing direct support, Crédit Agricole helps all areas of the farming and food manufacturing industries to adapt to new social issues, particularly as regards the environment.
Lastly, in order to support environmentally-friendly farming practices, the Group has formed a number of partnerships to encourage "agriculture raisonnée" and biodiversity, for example with the Farre association, with Agence Bio to develop organic farming and with the French bird protection league ("Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux" or LPO).
