Initiated in 2006 and reinforced in 2008, the Procurement, Logistics and Operational Security department’s sustainable policy is reflected by concrete measures, led by a head of sustainable development named at the end of 2007.

In 2008, awareness and training actions on the principles of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) integrated into procurement, were provided for procurement officers in collaboration with IFCAM, the Group’s training institute.

Suppliers’ rating

A supplier rating programme was initiated at the start of 2008, which entails sending out a CSR questionnaire with each tender invitation. This questionnaire gives to suppliers a CSR rating measuring their degree of maturity as regards CSR. So far, around 200 suppliers have been rated.
The programme continues with the opening of a supplier area on the website at the end of 2008 which enable them to fill in the questionnaire and the “identity card” online.

  • Access to the supplier area (lien vers l’espace)

In order to join stakeholders (especially suppliers) into the extension of Crédit Agricole S.A.’s actions, the Procurement, Logistics and Operational Security department launches in 2009 the first edition of its Trophée Horizon awards. This will recognise three suppliers (major corporate, SME, special-needs company) whose Corporate, Social and Environmental Responsibility programmes are deemed outstanding in their field of activity. Reception and awards ceremony in next September.

To help procurement officers to factor CSR principles into their work, the department has created a toolbox for them. Risk profiles for each area are available to them, allowing them to choose suppliers with full knowledge of the facts, as well as an information sheet enclosing labels and certification applied to their field of purchases and which they could integrate into specifications.

"Eco-design" in procurement

Eco-design principles are being increasingly taken into account in specifications, particularly as regards:
- Cleaning and maintenance of green spaces: use of environmentally friendly products;
- Office supplies: Crédit Agricole S.A. catalogue with a “green” product range;
- Printing: favouring suppliers with the Imprim’vert label and certified by the FSC1 and PEFC2.

Collaboration with “disability-friendly” companies3

As part of its attempts to support the employment of disabled workers, the Group has assigned certain services such as the maintenance of green spaces and recycling to disability-friendly companies. For example, the Procurement, Logistics and Operating Security department, LCL and Calyon work with ANAÏS4, a disability-friendly company specialising in printing. Moreover, to cover the insertion of the disabled persons, the group entrusted the elimination of computers and peripherals of SILCA to Emmaüs.
