Crédit du Maroc lays the first stone of its new “Les Arènes” head office

On 22 January 2020, a ceremony was held to mark the laying of the first stone of Crédit du Maroc’s future head office building, christened “Les Arènes” after its iconic location at the heart of Casablanca’s Boulevard d’Anfa, on the square of the same name.

Les Arênes

The ceremony, attended by officials, institutional representatives, business leaders and the media, marked the official start of work on the future building.
For reference, on 25 March 2019, Crédit du Maroc and Yamed Construction, a subsidiary of Yamed Capital, entered into a property development agreement for delivery of the bank’s new head office. The building covers an area of 13,000 square metres and will consist of eight floors (including the ground floor) and two basement levels.

Les Arènes: a new shop window for the bank enshrining significant CSR commitments and a desire to foster innovation and co-creation
The new head office is a transformational project for the bank and its staff. Through Les Arènes, Crédit du Maroc wants to boost its image as a socially responsible bank, strengthen its presence as a bank that finances the local economy and develop a strong employer brand.
The future head office aims to achieve HQE certification, with high levels of performance in terms of environmental integration, energy efficiency, comfort and quality of life for its users.
Another of the project’s key goals is to develop synergies across all the bank’s business lines in support of its customers. Instead of being spread across several sites, as they currently are, staff will be brought together under the same roof, promoting better communication, which is ultimately to the benefit of customers.
The transformation also means adopting new working practices in the new building to foster innovation and co-creation and promote individual and shared efficiency, supported by cutting-edge working tools. To ensure that quality levels meet users’ expectations, Les Arènes will also be WELL Building Silver certified, incorporating everything needed to cater to employees’ physical and psychological wellbeing.

Particular attention will be focused on the building’s landscape design to ensure that it is sustainably integrated into the Greater Casablanca urban environment.
The site’s landscape design will make it the environmental benchmark in its district. Architects Bridot Willerval and Omar Alaoui have worked to combine quality of life with responsibility, designing a building that offers exceptional thermoacoustic protection, natural light and a high level of thermal inertia.
Environmental concerns are at the heart of the project, which uses sustainable materials, systems and fittings.Part of the building’s architectural identity will lie in plant boxes on its facade, creating gardens visible from the Boulevard d’Anfa and a plant-rich environment inside the building.
