Paris - Tuesday, 2 October 2007

In September 2004, Finaref partnered Institut des Sciences de l'Entreprise et du Management (ISEM) in Montpellier and the University of Lille II to set up Europe's first Sales and Marketing degree specialised in consumer lending. The first intake of students has successfully completed the course and will graduate on 2 October at Finaref's headquarters.

When the programme was launched in 2005, it was targeted at customer sales advisers, payment collection staff, customer relations staff and insurance managers with at least two years' higher education. It had a clear purpose - give customer-facing employees an opportunity to resume their studies while holding on to their jobs, and reward them with a degree that opens up new career possibilities within the company.

According to Hubert de Pelet, Chairman of Finaref's Management Board, “This first intake has been a success. Out of the 15 students admitted, 12 will graduate today.” These graduates are now putting the lessons they learned in their “Create your professional project” training module into practice and working to advance their own careers within Finaref or the Crédit Agricole Group. “The goal of this European degree is to give our employees' career management and professional development a real shot in the arm,” says Sylvie Fouillouse-de Paris, Head of Human Resources at Finaref, adding “it's also a great advantage for us and for the Group to nurture and develop this talent.”

This educational programme is further proof of Finaref's commitment to equal opportunity and workplace diversity. Moreover, the prerequisites to apply for the course were expanded for the second intake to allow employees who qualify for the French government's work experience recognition qualification, or VAE. The second intake also looks promising. All the students on the course have moved up successfully into their second year.
The third intake will begin on 5 October. Underlining the course's commitment to openness, the new class will include employees from a variety of posts, including a team manager and an employee from the Crédit Agricole Nord de France Regional Bank.
