Jean-Claude Bassien appointed Chairman and CEO of Crédit Agricole Cheuvreux.

Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank (Crédit Agricole CIB) has announced the appointment of Jean-Claude Bassien as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Cheuvreux (CA Cheuvreux) with effect from 12 May 2010. He has replaced François Simon, who stepped down for personal reasons.

Jean-Claude Bassien started his career in 1988, as Head of Human Resources and Legal Affairs at the Inter-company Committee of the Paris Bourse. He joined Crédit Agricole Cheuvreux as Head of Human Resources in February 1991. Promoted to the position of Secretary-General and member of the Executive Committee in 1996, he was subsequently appointed Executive Vice-president in 1999 and then Deputy Chief Executive Officer in 2003.

Since September 2008, he has also held the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole CIB's Equity Brokerage and Derivatives business line.

Jean-Claude Bassien is 47 years old, a graduate of the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po Paris), and holds a Masters in Law.
