The Cité du Vin in Bordeaux
The Cité du Vin, a unique venue dedicated to wine culture, opened in Bordeaux in June 2016. The remit of the cultural and educational site is to share the age-old and universal culture of wine, and by doing so contribute to preserving and transmitting that culture. From the standpoint of tourism, the creation of the Cité des Civilisations du Vin will serve to attract 400,000 visitors a year in its inaugural year and strengthen the image of Bordeaux as a major tourism centre, the city already being considered as the world capital of wine culture. Crédit Agricole Aquitaine, recognised as “honorary constructor”, together with Crédit Agricole SA and Crédit Agricole Assurances, supported the project with funding of over €1.5 million.
