Crédit du Maroc: 90 years of history
An exhibition event celebrating the Bank’s roots in the history of Morocco.
Crédit du Maroc has been a major historic stakeholder in Morocco’s economy ever since 1929. With its rich and varied history, it has constantly evolved to now become a full-service universal bank that caters for personal, business and corporate customers.
To celebrate its 90th birthday, Crédit du Maroc is inviting its customers and partners to visit an exhibition event titled “Crédit du Maroc: 90 years of history” at its central branch, located on the legendary Boulevard Mohammed V in Casablanca.
Drawing on key dates, photographs, antiques and collectible banknotes, the exhibition* recreates the ambiance of branches from different periods and spotlights the various stages in Crédit du Maroc’s development.
The exhibition explores four major periods in the life of the Bank
- From 1929 to 1966, Crédit Lyonnais set up its first branch office in Casablanca under the Protectorate, expanding and eventually becoming Crédit du Maroc in 1966.
- From 1967 to 1992, Crédit du Maroc supported the “Moroccanisation” of the economy, pioneering the development of information technology and other new technologies.
- From 1993 to 2005, Crédit du Maroc became a universal bank and developed innovative services for corporate, business and personal customers.
- From 2006 to 2019, backed by the Crédit Agricole group, Crédit du Maroc embarked upon its digital transformation. The Bank’s affiliation with the Crédit Agricole group gives it a key commercial edge and an international outlook, offering its customers a global approach and the expertise of an international group.
Each period is symbolised by a graphical concept and colour scheme, embodied in a very large image of the interior of a Crédit du Maroc branch from the period in question. A timeline highlights key dates in the history of the Bank and Morocco. Period items and collectible banknotes are on show in a display cabinet.
The exhibition, with its original, flexible and adjustable design, will later be moving to other cities in Morocco to connect with customers, partners and staff.
The “Crédit du Maroc: 90 years of history” exhibition is open to the public free of charge Monday to Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Crédit du Maroc’s central branch, located at 48-58 Boulevard Mohammed V, Casablanca.
(*) The exhibition has been designed by publishing and production house Langages du Sud in partnership with architecture and design firm Ufografik. It was created by Maroc-Stand.
