Crédit Agricole supports Teleperformance overseas expansion

The Crédit Agricole Group, Crédit Agricole CIB and long-term banker to the customer Crédit Agricole d’Ile-de-France have just provided support to Teleperformance* for its acquisition of Languageline Solutions. The Group underwrote a large portion of the $1.5 billion-plus acquisition facilities, and CACIB was coordinator, underwriter and bookrunner, acquisition facility and documentation agent. The Crédit Agricole Group, already mandated as co-arranger for a US Private Placement (USPP), will play a key role in refinancing the bridge loan. This acquisition will help Teleperformance to strengthen its position in North America.

Big Data

In December, the rate of inflation in the Eurozone reached 1.1% on an annualised basis for the first time since September 2013. This increase is primarily due to higher prices for energy (+2.5%) and food (+2.1%), with underlying inflation standing at 0.9%. In particular, prices for non-energy industrial goods increased little because of structurally weak demand. This leaves the European Central Bank in a quandary, with on one side the need to support demand and on the other strong pressure from Germany to tighten its policies and increase rates.

First dematerialized onboarding at Alpes Provence Regional Bank

The Alpes Provence Regional Bank has just completed its first dematerialized customer onboarding (DCO) at its Avignon République branch. An account was opened from a tablet and the required documents were scanned and verified immediately for a significant saving in administration time. DCO is a fast, smooth and modern procedure that frees up time for sales and boosts good relations during the meeting. This scheme has now been implemented in six pilot Alpes Provence Regional Bank branches. This programme falls into the local multichannel banking concept, in accordance with the aims of the Group's Ambition Stratégique 2020 Medium Term Plan.

Political challenges: what's next?

We have entered a political cycle, a moment in history when everywhere, politics takes over from economics. This is a genuine political and geopolitical shift, from which there is no return. It shows that the problems with populism don't end with elections; they put the very links between democracy and globalisation into question. In January, ECO will be issuing a series of articles on this topic in the 60 seconds, with a new range of publications dedicated to it for 2017.(English version available soon)
