Nexecur Assistance reaches 10,000 subscribers

Crédit Agricole’s remote assistance service has welcomed its 10,000th subscriber. This service responds to a growing need of the population as, thanks to medical advances, people are living longer today than ever before. For families, it is an alternative to nursing homes, the cost of which remains high. Furthermore, personal assistance services in France benefit from a favourable political context thanks to the recent French Act on adapting society to an ageing population. For Crédit Agricole, the Remote Assistance service ties in perfectly with the Group’s Ageing Well at Home initiative.

What is remote assistance?

Remote assistance has undergone major changes over the past ten years, without fundamentally altering the way it is used.

The basic principle of a remote assistance service involves providing the customer with a call button which is used to trigger a transmitter connected to their telephone network and linked to a secure call centre.

One of the most recent evolutions in traditional remote assistance relates to the extensive development of unbundled ADSL lines, which now dictates a review of the traditional operating method.

New major trends are emerging. One such trend is visio-assistance, which incorporates the concepts of telemedicine and behavioural analysis. It builds on new data transmission capabilities like the Internet and GPRS. A second trend involves making use of the mobility offered by GSM with mobile remote assistance. The principle is based on the detection of abnormal behaviour, such as a significant drop or increase in a person’s activity, using sensors installed in their home.

On what market is Nexecur Assistance developing?

Across Europe, with penetration of 10% in the over-75s market, France is on a par with Germany, ahead of Italy and all Eastern European countries, but is behind the United Kingdom and Sweden (market shares of 32% and 26%, respectively).

In France, there are approximately one hundred companies offering remote assistance services. It should be noted, however, that only six represent 80% of the market, of which three major players: Vitaris / Présence Verte / Europ Assistance.

  • 6 M+ people are aged 75 or over
  • 10 M people will be aged 75 or over in 2040
  • 1.6 M dependent persons

What sets Nexecur’s service apart?

Nexecur Assistance’s offering primarily stands out for its distribution method, first introduced in 2013. Advisors can offer targeted customers direct subscription services suitable for every stage of their lives.

Nexecur Assistance has also launched its mobile remote assistance “Liberty Box” - a service tailored to independent people who wish to feel safe while they are out and about. Subscribers can contact the call centre directly using an emergency button and the advisor will be able to see their exact location, which can then be shared with their family or the emergency services.

To reassure families, carers can also have access to an app which detects any unusual behaviour within the home of the subscriber (change in internal/external temperature, an open door, etc.).
