Crédit Agricole S.A.’s publishes its 6th FReD index

A FReD progress index measuring the Crédit Agricole S.A. Group’s social performance has been approved and published for 2017.

The index reading is 1.7, summarising the advances made by the 15 entities committed to the Group’s environmental and social responsibility (ESR) approach: Amundi, CACEIS, CA Polska, Crédit Agricole Assurances, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, Crédit Agricole Consumer Finance, Crédit Agricole Immobilier, Crédit Agricole Leasing & Factoring, CA Indosuez Wealth Group, Crédit Agricole Italia, Crédit Agricole Payment and Services, Crédit Agricole S.A. entité sociale, Crédit du Maroc, LCL et Uni-Éditions.

180 action plans have been ranked from 1 (plan selected) to 4 (objectives achieved). When an entity moves from one level to another, it gains one point. When an action plan’s objectives have been met, it is replaced by a new plan in the entity’s FReD portfolio. Every year, the averages of the entities’ own self-assessments will feed into the FReD index measuring the Group’s overall progress.

What does 1.7 means?

This figure should be compared to the "best possible annual progression" for a portfolio divided into short-term (1 year), medium-term (2 years) and long-term (3 years or more) action plans. The progress of the various actions is measured by the yardstick of 4 stages, the transition from one step to another reporting a point. Thus, for example, for a short-term action performed in 1 year, which passes from step 1 to step 4, three points are granted. The index of the entity is the arithmetic average of the FReD actions in its portfolio. The Group's FReD index is the arithmetic mean of the entity indices. The target goal has been set at 1.5. A Group index of 1.7 is therefore equivalent to an average progress rate of FReD shares slightly lower than two steps.

Like every year, this index has been audited by an external, independent third party, PricewaterhouseCoopers.
