THE ISSUE

How to adopt a responsible approach in real estate investments?

OUR RESPONSE

As a major institutional investor and signatory of the Principles for Responsible Investment, Crédit Agricole Assurances uses non-financial criteria in its investment decisions, namely an environmental, social and governance (ESG) filter combined with a policy of theme-based investments (with themes including the environment, health, and ageing).

In its real estate portfolio, worth over €14 billion, Crédit Agricole Assurances is increasing the share of assets with at least one type of environmental certification (HQE, BREEAM or LEED) for commercial real estate and office space.

Crédit Agricole Assurances also invests in renewable energies, particularly in energy infrastructure located primarily in France. At end-2015, some €148 million was invested in renewable energy programmes.

‘‘

As an institutional investor mindful of ESG issues, Crédit Agricole Assurances favours investments that support the energy transition.
