Financing the social and environmental advances with Green Bonds
To develop innovative social and environmental initiatives around the world, project coordinators need to draw on increasingly large funds.
In 2009, Crédit Agricole CIB created the Sustainable Banking team, specialised in responsible finance, to foster socially-responsible and environmental projects from individuals and professionals alike. Crédit Agricole CIB has been committed to the green bonds market since 2010. Green bonds work like regular bonds but are dedicated to financing environmental and social projects and activities. As such, they are highly useful for financing investments related to the energy transition.
In 2015 Crédit Agricole CIB arranged nearly $17.5bn in sustainable and green bonds for its key accounts, as well as a number of transactions on its own account (green notes in the amount of €1,313bn).
