Financing the social and environmental advances with Green Bonds

Green Bonds

€2M

The Group has invested €2M in Green Bonds (target set at COP 21, reached at the end of 2017).

THE ISSUE

To develop innovative social and environmental initiatives around the world, project coordinators need to draw on increasingly large funds.

OUR RESPONSE

In 2009, Crédit Agricole CIB created the Sustainable Banking team, specialised in responsible finance, to foster socially-responsible and environmental projects from individuals and professionals alike. Crédit Agricole CIB has been committed to the green bonds market since 2010. Green bonds work like regular bonds but are dedicated to financing environmental and social projects and activities. As such, they are highly useful for financing investments related to the energy transition.

In 2017 and 2018, Crédit Agricole CIB arranged more than €120 billion of green bonds for its major clients, as well as numerous transactions on its own account.

‘‘

An active player in the sector since 2009 and the co-author of the Green Bond Principles, Crédit Agricole CIB is proud to have played a key role in the emergence of this responsible financial tool.

Tanguy Claquin, Head of Sustainable Banking at Crédit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank
