THE ISSUE

With the regions of France more than ever seeking to develop their attractiveness, enhancing and promoting their heritage is a key ingredient in revitalising and diversifying local economic and cultural activity.

OUR RESPONSE

Founded in 1979 and having gained public-interest status in 1983, the Crédit Agricole Pays de France Foundation commits to local communities (local authorities, organisations and project initiators) by backing their initiatives to safeguard and promote both their rural and urban heritage (including museums, natural sites, traditional trades and rural buildings).

In 2013, it promoted the application of the Chauvet-Pont-d'Arc Cave for UNESCO World Heritage listing, one of its most emblematic projects. The cave, discovered in 1994, is one of the oldest examples of cave painting and one of the most densely illustrated in the world, with 452 depictions of animals.

Since its creation, the Crédit Agricole Pays de France Foundation has financed almost 1,250 cases to the tune of over €36 million.

The Foundation would be powerless without the work of people in the field who fight every day to safeguard our heritage.a
