Giampiero Maioli appointed Executive Director (Amministratore Delegato) of Cariparma

Meeting on 28 April after the annual general meeting of shareholders, the new Board of Directors of Cariparma, the Italian bank controlled by Crédit Agricole, appointed Giampiero Maioli as Executive Director. Mr Maioli will continue to serve as Cariparma's Chief Executive Officer.

Giampiero Maioli, 53, began his career with Credito Emiliano in the 1980s and moved to the Milan branch of Chemical Bank towards the end of the decade. In 1997 he headed the network of Credito Commerciale, which Cariparma acquired in 1995.

In April 2003 he was appointed Deputy CEO of Cariparma, becoming CEO in March 2007. Since 28 April 2010 he has served as Executive Director of Cariparma. He also sits on the boards of Banca Popolare FriulAdria (79%-owned by Cariparma), Crédit Agricole Leasing Italia Srl, Emporiki Bank, Crédit Agricole Vita SpA, Amundi Sgr SpA, Crédit Agricole Agro-Alimentare SpA, Consorzio Patti Chiari, Fiere di Parma SpA, and Artoni Trasporti SpA.

In 2007 Giampiero Maioli was a key player in the merger between Cariparma FriulAdria and Crédit Agricole. Following an agreement with Intesa SanPaolo, the merger will shortly make Cariparma Friuladria the seventh largest banking group in Italy, with nearly 1,000 outlets and more than 10,000 employees.
