Crédit Agricole attends McDonald’s 30th Worldwide Convention
This is the third time Crédit Agricole has been represented at the American fast food giant’s convention, which brings over 14,000 attendees (franchisees, suppliers and partners) from 135 countries to Barcelona from 8 to 11 April.

This year, CACIB, LCL and Foncaris are sharing a Group-branded stand in support of their customer, France’s seventh-largest employer with 79,000 employees.

Over half of the 1,300 franchised McDonald’s restaurants in France are supported by the Crédit Agricole group, which finances 150 projects a year.

This global event is an opportunity for the Group to reaffirm its role as the number one partner to the McDonald’s network in France and to strengthen ties with the many franchisees attending the convention.

Crédit Agricole d’Ille-et-Vilaine celebrates its 120th birthday this year. Established on 15 October 1904 by Jacques Thélohan, spurred on by elected officials, legal professionals, farmers and teachers, with the aim of offering financing in a form suited to farmers, the Regional Bank grew by meeting the changing needs of society. To mark its 120th birthday, Editions Ouest France is publishing a volume titled Crédit Agricole d’Ille-et-Vilaine, 120 ans d’engagement local (“Crédit Agricole d’Ille-et-Vilaine: 100 years of local engagement”).

Recycling pearl farming waste
During their stopover in Papeete from 25 March to 7 May, the explorers on board the Plastic Odyssey aim to raise awareness around collecting and recycling pearl farming waste (buoys, nets, wire mesh, plastic baskets, etc.). They can draw on their experience over the past month in the islands of French Polynesia, where they have had the opportunity to talk to pearl farmers and local recyclers to gain a better understanding of the local waste management system. On-board testing has demonstrated how, for example, a bench can be made from plastic collected from pearl farms.

58%
That’s the percentage of households in France that owned their main residence in 2021, according to the Household Finance and Consumption Survey, which highlighted differences between the eurozone’s four largest countries, with 77% of households owning their main residence in Italy, 73% in Spain and 44% in Germany. The survey shows that the rate of ownership in Spain has been declining since 2010, when it stood at 83%. It has held steady in France and Germany over the same period and risen by two percentage points in Italy. The rate of ownership of other residential property (buy-to-let property, second homes, etc.) in France rose from 22% in 2017 to 24% in 2021, while in Italy it rose from 21% in 2010 to 26% in 2021.

WORLD – Macro-economic scenario 2024-2025: normalisation(s)?
“Normalisation” is on the horizon, but bumps in the road are likely. Interest rates have not bitten quite as hard as expected, while the labour markets have generally held up well, and inflation is subsiding. However, in the US, inflation may settle above the Fed’s target. In the Eurozone, prices themselves may be an issue and could ultimately hobble growth.
