Crédit Agricole S.A., École Polytechnique and the École Polytechnique Foundation have created an international chair for teaching and research on trusted and responsible artificial intelligence (AI). The aim is to add to scientific knowledge on the development of secure, ethical and robust artificial intelligence-based systems.
The new chair was inaugurated on 26 March 2024 by Laura Chaubard, Director General and acting President of École Polytechnique, Olivier Gavalda, Deputy CEO of Crédit Agricole S.A. with responsibility for universal banking, and Jean-Paul Cottet, Executive Director of the École Polytechnique Foundation (seen in the above photo).
Supported by Group DataLab, the chair’s research will concentrate on two key priorities. Firstly, it will focus on improving the reliability, frugality* and explicability of AI systems, notably through a hybrid approach incorporating reasoning and rules derived from business knowledge.
Secondly, the project aims to make AI systems, and in particular generative AI systems, more resilient to cyberattacks, especially those aimed at exfiltrating confidential data.
Applications of this work will focus on uses with a positive impact such as, for example, optimising energy consumption in smart buildings. |
