APPOINTMENT
Jean-Yves Hocher, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole S.A. in charge of Corporate and Investment Banking and Private Banking, has announced the appointment of Christophe Gancel as head of Private Banking as of 1 November 2011. Having been Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Suisse S.A since 2007, Mr Gancel will continue to perform his duties until a new CEO of Crédit Agricole Suisse S.A. is appointed. He is replacing Alain Massiera.
After joining the banking commitments division of Banque Indosuez in 1977, Christophe Gancel moved to the major corporates division where he was head of corporate clients from 1980 to 1986. Between 1986 and 1992, he served as director of the Nord Pas-de-Calais region based in Lille, and then director of the Rhônes-Alpes division in Lyon. In 1992, he became head of private banking in France at Banque Indosuez. In 1999, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Banque de Gestion Privée Indosuez, and remained in this position until 2007, when he became Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Suisse.
Aged 58, Christophe Gancel holds a Master’s degree in management from Paris University IX Dauphine and is a graduate of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris.
