Amundi’s commitment to responsible investment praised by Morningstar
Morningstar* has published the fifth edition of its ESG Commitment Level report, which provides information about the responsible investment philosophies, ESG integration processes, and resources and active shareholding activities of 97 asset managers, and ranks them on a four-point scale (Leader, Advanced, Basic and Low).

For the second year running, Morningstar has rated Amundi’s ESG commitment level as Advanced. Amundi is one of only two of the top ten global asset managers to have achieved this level. All the other big asset managers have lower ratings (Basic or Low).

As in previous years, Amundi is recognised for having consistently incorporated ESG criteria into its entire range of funds (both active and passive) and for having voted for over 99% of key ESG resolutions (on average) between 2021 and 2023, considered exceptionally high by Morningstar.
* Morningstar is a Chicago-based investment research firm that compiles and analyses data on funds, equities and the market in general. Its studies are widely used by investors and are considered benchmarks in the asset management sector.

10, 20 and 50 euro cents
Those are the denominations of euro coins which, from this June, will bear images of three of the seven great women from French history buried in the Panthéon*. Ten-centime coins will show the face of Simone Veil, an Auschwitz escapee who rose to prominence in European politics and the fight for women’s rights. Artist, Resistance fighter and militant feminist and anti-racist Joséphine Baker will appear on 20-centime coins. And French scientist and two times Nobel prize winner Marie Curie will adorn 50-centime coins. The national (heads) side of each coin can be changed every 15 years, the other side being the common European side.
* Mélinée Manouchian, Joséphine Baker, Simone Veil, Marie Curie, Germaine Tillion, Geneviève de Gaulle-Anthonioz and Sophie Berthelot.

China: Two Sessions, one growth target and a whole lot of questions

In a more or less unchanging sequence of events, the Chinese New Year has given way to the “Two Sessions” (known in Chinese as lianghui), which brings together over 3,000 representatives of the Communist Party of China and the National People’s Congress.

This year, though, the sequence of events was not quite unchanging: it was announced that the premier’s traditional press conference, a rare opportunity for exchange – controlled but freer than usual – with the foreign press that had been held every year since 1993, would no longer happen.

There had already been one break with tradition: Xi Jinping has still not convened the plenary session of the Party’s Central Committee, tasked with approving and ratifying economic reforms.
