The appointment of Christophe Gancel as CEO of Crédit Agricole (Suisse) SA will be put before the next meeting of the bank's board of directors on 9 October 2007.
Christophe will replace Alain Massiera, recently appointed deputy CEO of Calyon and member of Crédit Agricole SA's executive committee.
Crédit Agricole (Suisse) SA is a Swiss market leader in private and corporate banking, especially commodity trade financing.
Christophe, 54, joined the banking commitments division of Banque Indosuez in 1977. He then moved to the major corporates division where he worked as head of corporate clients from 1980 to 1986. Between 1986 and 1992, he served as director of the Nord Pas-de-Calais region based in Lille, and then director of the Rhônes-Alpes division in Lyon, where he took charge of major regional and national corporates.
In 1992, he returned to Banque Indosuez's head office in Paris as director of private banking in France. Since 1999, he has been CEO of BGP Indosuez, the group's specialised wealth management arm in France.
Christophe is a graduate of Sciences Po and holds a Masters' degree in management from Paris University IX Dauphine.
