The Societal Project, the foundation of our CSR commitments
In 2019, Crédit Agricole published its Mission Statement, "Working every day in the interests of our customers and society", and its Group Project, which includes its climate strategy and its Societal Project, the overall framework for its CSR policy and ESG performance. It has therefore placed the climate and ecological transition at the heart of its development model.
A pioneering commitment to sustainable development
From the outset, Crédit Agricole's mutualist model has led it to support changes in society
For more than 20 years, the bank has been committed to sustainability.It signed up to the Global Compact and the Equator Principles in 2003. In 2010, a Sustainable Banking unit was set up within Crédit Agricole’s investment banking subsidiary, contributing to the development and drafting of the Green Bonds Principles.

The Societal Project, the foundation of the Group's CSR commitments for a just transition
After publishing its climate strategy in 2019, and faced with the urgency of climate change and the gap remaining to reach Paris Agreement traget in 2021, Crédit Agricole joined the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero and strengthened its Societal Project by publishing a programme/plan. The project is structured around three key areas and ten commitments for society. In 2022, the bank created two new business lines to support the transitions: Crédit Agricole Transitions & Énergies and Crédit Agricole Santé & Territoires.

The Group's societal commitment is also expressed through a number of alliances and responsible initiatives at national and international level. Crédit Agricole has contributed to the creation of several foundational texts and international mechanisms promoting the application of CSR principles.
